The discovery of America occurred on Friday, October 12, 1492 when a Spanish expedition led by Christopher Columbus crossed the Atlantic Ocean and first came to America, specifically to the Bahamas. The discovery was announced in Europe the existence of the New World, which changed the course of Western history. The journey was not easy.
The second expedition sailed from Cadiz on September 24, 1493. This trip was intended to seat the Spanish presence in the territories discovered and find the way to India and Cathay.

The third voyage began on May 30, 1498. Colón departed from Sanlúcar de Barrameda and reached the island of Trinidad in late July.
